Not sure if it's right for you/your family?
Don't know where to begin?
Act of Life - Helping to explore the possibility of adoption as a way to expand your family.
Act of Life is an adoption resource center, providing answers, referrals, and resources to those couples considering adoption. We provide a service to prospective adoptive parents to help them understand the whole process of adoption so that they are fully informed and prepared.
Our Hope Adoption Counseling service provides couples with an opportunity to meet with an adoption counselor in a one hour free session providing information on the process of private adoption and public adoption. We provide Hope to couples who are exploring adoption as a way to expand their family, whether they are dealing with infertility issues, choose not to have biological children, or are an older couple who want to give a child a loving home, our Hope counseling session is a safe place for them to come and ask all the questions they have with regards to adoption and the adoption process.
Many couples have shared with us that they had a desire to adopt for several years but failed to follow through with that desire because of their fear of the unknown. They were afraid to go directly to an adoption agency because they did not know or understand what the adoption process would entail or what the financial implications would be for them - could they afford to adopt a child? We can help them understand all of this and direct them to the organizations they need to make their dreams of adoption come true.
In the Hope counseling session, couples will be given an information packet which will include such items as:
- Texas Department of Family Services & Protective Services Foster/Adoption Information Packet
- Steps to Become a Foster/Adoptive Parent
- A Step-By-Step guide to Adoption
- A Step-by-Step guide to post-adoption
- Other valuable adoption information.
